Zulum commissions 500 houses, as it resettled 3,383 from 10 communities in Konduga LGA

The Borno state Government has on Sunday allocated 500 houses, and resettled 3,384 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from 10 communities in Konduga local government areas of the state.

The resettlement houses have public facilities such as schools, a primary healthcare centre, water facilities and other basic needs.

While commissioning 500 ressetlement Estate in Konduga, the headquarters of Konduga local government area of Borno state, Governor Babagana Zulum said ” today it is my singular honor and privilege to commission and resetlle IDPs from 10 communities of Konduga local government area. This exercise commences the closure of Konduga IDP camps.”

While warning the IDPs, Governor Zulum said ” I was told Boko Haram members used to come and pass the night in the camps, this cannot be tolerated. You should report any suspected members to the military and other security agencies “.

Zulum warned the beneficiary that under no circumstances that the houses should be sold and directed the ministry of Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Resettlement to make a caveat in to he allocation conditions that it should not be sold.

“The Borno state government in collaboration with the Konduga local government area will very soon commence the construction of 500 houses in Awalari, the construction of Dalwa 500 houses will InshaAllah be completed in the next 6 months, while that Sandiya will commence next year and by the grace of God we will close all camps in the state before the expiration of my tenure”, Zulum said.

The resettled persons were from the 10 communities displaced by the Boko Haram insurgents: Towuri, Modu Amsamiri, Goniri, Mairamiri, Lawanti Grema Gogobe, Bula Bowuri, Zarmari, Amusari, Bula Bakaraye and Furi.

424 male households, 165, female households benefitted from the allocation and were given N50,000 each,, a 25kg of rice, 25 kg of grains, mattrases, plastic buckets among others, while 387 wives got N20,000 each., Wrapper and plastic bucket.

Governor Zulum also directed the Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement to complete the construction work for 500 houses in Dalwa town within six months and construction of another 500 houses in Aulari town also in Konduga Local Government Area.

Zulum also directed the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation to immediately assess the College of Business and Administration Konduga and determine the extent of the destruction the Boko Haram insurgents wrecked on the college.

In his goodwill message, Senator Kaka Mallam commended the Governor for ressettling the people back to their communities and urged the beneficiaries not to sell the houses but make good use of it.

Also speaking, the permanent Secretary, Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Engr Lawan Goni said that a total of 424 male households, 165 female households will be given N50,000 each, while 387 will get N20,000 each, wrapper and plastic bucket, stressing in all 3,897 person’s are been ressettled. from 10 communities of the local government area.

“Your Excellency, today we are witnessing the resettlement of 3,897 person from 10 communities of Aulari, Gonimi, Gonimi Gana, Zannari, amsami, Bulamari, among other communities into this ressetlement estate.”, Goni said.

Earlier, the Chairman Konduga local government area, Alhaji Abba Abbari thanked the Governor for all what he has been doing in the local government area, stressing that Konduga is one of the worst hit local government area in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Zara Mai thanked the Governor for providing them with  houses, foods and non food items and prayed that God would reward him abandantly..
