Yobe Prioritizes Security, Welfare Of Corps Members

The Yobe state government under the leadership of Gov. Mai Mala Buni has vowed to sustain efforts towards the protection and improved welfare of Corps Members deployed to Yobe State.

Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni revealed at the swearing ceremony, represented by the NYSC Chairman Governing Board Alh. Barma Shettima congratulated the corps members for a successful graduation from their respective institutions of learning.

He urged the Corps members to view their deployment to Yobe as a call to contribute to the national development.

The Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to accord priority to the security and welfare of corps members in any part of the state. He said “I have directed all security agencies and community leaders not to rest on their oars in ensuring a conducive environment is created for them to thrive.

On his part the Chairman of NYSC Governing Board Yobe state, the Commissioner Ministry of Youth Sports, Social and community development, Barma Shettima who is also represented by the Permanent Secretary. Ministry of Youth, Sports, Social and Community Development Mohammed Balumi assured the Corps members of a memorable service experience in the state.

The Chairman acknowledged the NYSC’s role in fostering Unity among Nigerians Youth who came from diverse backgrounds. He then appreciated the government’s commitment towards improving orientation camp facilities.

Speaking earlier in a welcome address, the State Coordinator NYSC Yobe,vMrs. Hafsat Yerima also congratulated the Corps members on their educational achievements and lauded their commitment to service of the fatherland.

Mrs. Yerima stressed the vital role of the orientation course in shaping the entire Service year, exposing corps members to the objectives of the scheme, and the customs of their communities among others.

The ceremony witnessed prominent guest that include His Lordship Chief Judge of Yobe represented by Justice Muhammed Jajere, Sector commander Maj. Gen. MLD Sraso represented by Maj. SK Alkali FOB Potiskum command, representatives of all the security Agencies and representative of Emirs of Fika and Potiskum.

Highlights of the occasion include the swearing in ceremony conducted by Chief Judge of Yobe state represented by Justice Adamu Jangere of the High Court of Justice, where a total number of one thousand, one hundred and fifty eighth corps members took oath of allegiance and thug of war display by highly spirited Man ‘O’ war special squad.
