2023 Int’l Youth Day: Gov. Buni equipping young people to actualise their dreams, contribute to development
By Yusuf Ali, Damaturu
As we celebrate this year’s International Youth Day, 12 August, 2023, marked each year by the United Nations (UN) and its sister organizations, its a day to remember that Yobe State Gov. Mai Mala Buni is running a youth inclusive government and equipping young people to enable them actualise their dreams and contribute to the development of the country.
Its an undeniable fact that Gov. Buni has altered and progressively changed the dynamics of youths political participation and decision making forever in Yobe. Its a dawn of a new era of youth progressive political leadership.
It is in the absent of a rabid political mentor that Gov. Buni became a role model the youth can look up to for guidance and leadership training and mentorship. He has defied the odds and given the youths the space and courage to participate in the democratic and decision making processes. Many see him as a sun shining on a cloudless morning in the Sahel beckoning a new era for the youths.
Today, thanks to Gov. Buni youth inclusivity in governance, the Yobe state government is buzzing with young and active team which is doing the state proud with its energy, its enthusiasm, its talent and its drive for excellence. From SEMA to the State Scholarship Board, to the Yobe Microfinance Bank, SPHCMB, YCHCS, YOGIS, YORMA, YOROTA, YITDA, and slew of other agencies such as the NEDC’s Coordinator, these active and vibrant youths are helping to write a new chapter in the annals of Yobe’s public service.
This is a good example that Gov. Buni is running an all inclusive governance in Yobe and a signs of great things to come. The Buni administration has opened up the political space to more young people than any other state in the current political dispensation in this part of the country.
Its optimistic that our educated and responsible youth will continue to play an active role in every political movement through which they will define their own path and the future of their communities and the nation as a whole.
This is a legacy that cannot be undone.
