In its effort to boost agricultural production and ensure food security, the Adamawa state government has set up  a committee to work out strategies for massive agricultural production in the state.

Special Adviser on Agriculture to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Dr. Thakma Sini Amos made the disclosure in Yola Weekend at a news briefing stressing that, five local government areas have been earmarked  for the take off of the pilot agricultural activity on  approximate one thousand five hundred(1,500) hectares of land across the LGAs.

Amos said the government is aware of the effects of climate change as it negate food security and therefore declared to provide three hundred hectares of land in the five-six pilot LGA’s for massive production of agricultural products

Amos explained that, the government will also before the commencement of this year’s farming season make available improved seedlings and fertilizer that will meet up the soil demands having being affected by harmful effects of environmental change

“To propelled the project for a robust food security in the state,a committee has been constituted by the government to draw a road map on Agriculture and workable modalities for it’s implementation.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has scaled up budget on Agriculture as quantifiable seeds, and fertilizer are on the way for this year’s wet season.

“.Amos stated.

He however, advised farmers to always know the source of their pesticides and fertilizer as well as avoid burning of crop residues on their farmlands to avoid erosions.

According to him, though the rain and weather condition are posing a serious threat to food production,the State Government is evolving new techniques and technologies for a mechanized Agriculture in the state.

The Special Adviser assured that the seedlings to be provided by government for this year’s farming season would be draught tolerant noting that thorough soil analysis would be conducted in all the local councils for value, quality and quantity driven output.
