LG Polls : PDP wins 21 local government chairmanship seats,225 counsellorship seats, NNPP got 1 counsellor seat. Says ADSIEC.

The Adamawa state Independent Electoral Commission, ADSIEC has announced that PDP has won all 21 local government council chairmanship in the Saturday 13th July 2024 local government polls.
Declaring the results of the election at the Commission’s head quarters in Yola, Sunday, Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammad Umar Jabu said PDP won 225 counsellorship seats out 226 while NNPP won 1 counsellorship seats in Demsa ward in Demsa local government council.
Jabu expressed satisfaction with the entire exercise stressing that despite some hitches ranging from delay arrival of election materials which he ascribed to morning rains recorded on the date.
Reacting to the declaration in an interview, State Chairman of Labour Party,LP. Mr. Nicolas Christopher contested the results insisting that the election was allegedly compromised by the referee (ADSIEC).
Christopher decried that despite late arrival of election materials at various polling stations some candidates fielded by Labour Party got the highest votes but we’re allegedly unturned by the officials.
Christopher vowed that the party will take any necessary actions legally to correct the abnormally stressing that no stone will be left unturned in challenging the out come of the election.
Recalled that the two leading opposition political parties in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have early distanced themselves from the election on the grounds of alleged impunity and circumvention of extant electoral laws by the Adamawa state government.
Our Correspondent who monitored the exercise on Saturday reported that most of the polling units he personally visited as at 11:00 am in Jimeta, the state capital observed that only security personnel were guarding the polling units with out Electoral officials.
However, reports had it that that there was significant voter turn out in Yola South and Madagali council,the home town of governor Ahmad Umaru Fintiri and .
Rejecting the election as shambolic the Labour Party chairmanship candidate of Michika local government, Anthony Zira said the election lacked any iota of integrity as it was conducted in flagrant disregard with electoral laws.
“I’m sad to tell you that what happened today is anything but election. In fact no election took place. Instead we witnessed ballot stuffing, late arrival of election materials and disregard for lawful electoral process.
“That is why the people shunned the election while only PDP apologists were left stuffing the ballot boxes,” he said.
