Yobe Governor Empowers Female Entrepreneurs with N25.5 Million Grant

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has approved the disbursement of N25.5 million to 170 female entrepreneurs trained from Potiskum and Nangere LGAs of the state.

The known was made in an official statement released by the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),Mohammed Goje, which was made available to the Daily Hint in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries have already begun receiving alerts of their ₦150,000 cash grants.

He said: “This initiative, in line with the policy directives of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, aims to boost their businesses and increase household incomes.

“On August 22, 2024, these young entrepreneurs underwent a week-long training and profiling process for the start-up grant. Today, the beneficiaries have started receiving their grants, which are expected to enhance their business operations and help meet their basic needs.

“In addition to their vocational skills, the women received training on financial literacy, savings, and other essential business skills. This comprehensive approach ensures they are equippedipped to manage and grow their enterprises sustainably.”

During a communication with the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), one of the beneficiaries expressed her gratitude, stating, “Sir, this is the highest amount of money I have ever seen in my life, and Insha Allah, I will triple it by this time next year.”

The Executive Secretary commended all partners involved, including the United Nations Development Programme UNDP in Nigeria, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the implementing partner, Portrait Of Lake Child Initiative.

He also appreciated the timely implementation of the activity and assured continuous collaboration in line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s policy direction.

This initiative represents a crucial step towards empowering women entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth, and promoting social cohesion within the community.
