FG Holds Northeast Town Hall Engagement With Youths in Borno

The Federal Government has organized a Northeast Zonal Consultative meeting and dialogue with youths across the 6 states of the region in Maiduguri the Borno state capital with view to get issues affecting the youths across the country in it’s efforts to ensuing sustainable development and harnessing the potentials of the youths
Speaking at the Consultative engagement and Town Hall meeting held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government House, Maiduguri yesterday, the Minister of Youths Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim said “President Bola Tinubu is committed to investing heavily in the youths.The President want a shift from providing temporary solutions to the problem of the youths across the country, hence the huge investment in the youths”
The Minister said the Town Hall engagement with the youths was aimed at interacting with the youths to have first hand information about their problems of the youths with a view to providing policy document that will provide lasting and sustainable solutions.
Dr Jamila Ibrahim also noted that the Presidential Youths Empowerment Cluster (PYEC) programs has incapsulated all the issues raised by the youths during the interactions session, adding that President Tinubu is committed to investing heavily in the youths.
“President Bola Tinubu want a shift from providing temporary solutions to long lasting and sustainable solutions the president is investing heavily in the future of the youths. The PYEC programs have put into consideration the issues of job creation through agriculture, renewable energy, iCT, poultry farming and ECT”, ” the Minister said.
She said the ministry will soon send a bill to the National Assembly for the law to establish National youths institute that will train youths in leadership position and also assured their future as the leaders of tomorrow.
While declaring the Youth engagement open, the Borno state Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum urged the youths to always dialogue with government rather engaging in protest, and commended the newly Minister of the established ministry for organizing the youths dialogue.
Governor Zulum assured that the Borno state government will partner with the Federal Government in the area of youths development and urged the participants to feel free and say their minds.
The Governor also announced that the state will host the forthcoming National youths council meeting in Maiduguri and directed the commissioner of youths Development to commence preparation for the hosting of the council meeting.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Borno state Commissioner for Youths Development, Hon Saina Buba said ” I want to commend the Minister for coming out with this youths dialogue to listen to the views and issues affecting the youths. I also want to commend Governor Babagana Zulum for granting approval for the state to host the zonal meeting and the national youths council meeting in the state.
The Commissioner said the Borno state government under the leadership of Governor Babagana Zulum has accorded priority to youths development, hence the construction 6 of modern enterprenurship Centres, scholarship Centres, provide foreign scholarships to Borno state citizens to study abroad, among others.
In their seperate remarks, youths leaders from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe Taraba and Yobe state urged federal government to address insecurity, hunger,, unemployment and economic hardship..
They also asked the Minister to tell President Tinubu that the youths in the Northeast are not happy with the President as many youths are been killed by the insurgency, palliative is not reaching them, their parents are hungry and many of them, especially those in the rural areas are not accessing any intervention from Federal Government.
