Nigerian women have been charged to do their best in occupying their rightful spaces in the scheme of things in the country.

President of the Adamawa Concerned Women in Politics(ACWP), Hajiya Zainab Abubakar gave the charge in Yola Friday while the Association paid an advocacy visit to the lonely female legislator and Majority leader of the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno describing her doggedness in political landscape in the state as “hope and inspiration for womenfolk in our growing democracy.

Hajiya Abubakar said that the ACWP in partnership with Garga Foundation with support of the International Foundation For Electoral Systems(IFES) is poised to advancing women’s participation and leadership in politics.

Abubakar added that the Organization was established to purposely address the underrepresentation of women in the political landscape of the state and are committed to breaking the barriers that hinders them from partaking fully in governance.

“With the backing of Garga Foundation and IFES,ACWP is steadfast in its mission to empower women not only to participate in politics but to also take lead.

“We believe with your support as one of us (Woman) and the backing of the House of Assembly, our advocacy will yield significant and lasting change.

“While we acknowledge and appreciate Governor Fintiri’s government for the gender sensitive policies,we also wish further backings for our initiatives, particularly as we aspire to see a woman become the next Governor of Adamawa state”.She maintained.

In her response, Hon.Kate Mamuno expressed gratitude to the women group for the recognition urging them to feel at home whenever the need arises.

Mamuno who is the majority leader and member representing Demsa state Constituency promised to work assiduously with the Organization in pushing forward the womenfolk inclusion in all human endeavors calling on women to come out en mass to contribute their quota in nation building.

Mamuno encourage women to courageous and focus in whatever they do noting that “No woman no nation”.A reason she said will take them to higher positions in life.

She acknowledged the deliberate effort of Governor Fintiri’s government for allowing women to be elected as the vice chairmen in the 21 local government areas in the state announcing that women remain grateful for the recognition and opportunity to serve.

Earlier in his speech, Aminu Adamu. Project Coordinator,Garga Foundation reiterated that the Foundation and its partners would always not hesitate in providing enabling support to the women being the mothers of the universe.

Adamu therefore appeal to the member to use her good office in supporting the Association so that women groups may have more legislative backings in their activities.
