League of Northern Democrats (LND) constitute committees to rescue the region.

A new northern political movement under the aupieces ‘The league of Northern Democrats (LND) has formalized its leadership structure with former Kano state Governor Ibrahim Shekarau emerging as the pioneer chairman and Hon.Emmanuel Jime of Benue state as the secretary.
The league at a special meeting held at the Yar’adua Centre,Abuja Wednesday constituted a steering committee and 5 sub committees to handle the activities of the movement in ensuring that all efforts to return peace and security in the northern zone are achieved.
“The approved summit has principally two main objectives.First is for it serve as a fulcrum around which to knit Northern unity, security and leadership.
“And secondly,to proffer viable northern solutions to the existential challenges facing the northern region in three key areas of disunity, insecurity and poverty”. The league highlighted.
In a press statement signed and issued by the Convener of the league(LND), Dr. Umar Ardo and the Secretary, Hon.Jime Emmanuel,the league indicated that,the standing committee is to be chaired by
Senator Ibrahim Ida (Wazirin Katsina) with Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Bio from Kwara State as Deputy Chairman.
According to the statement, the subcommittees created are also as follows: Contact and Mobilization to be chaired by Dr. Ja’afar Bello Dambazau
from Kano state; Programs Planning & Logistics, to be chaired by Alh. Danjuma Ibrahim from Sokoto state; Media & Publicity which is to be chaired by Dr. Ladan Salihu from Bauchi state
It added that, Intelligence & Security sub committee is to be chaired by AVM Monday Morgan from Benue state; and
Events and Protocol, is to be chaired by Amb.Mohammed Hassan from Borno state while former DG of the FRCN, Dr. Ladan Salihu is also appointed as the
Spokesman of the League.
However, the league slated the 12th and 13th November to hold the Northern Nigerian summit noting that the league would be Undertaking high-level consultative visits to key stakeholders of the North, such as former presidents, traditional and religious leaders,business
leaders,retired officials, both civilian and military, etc.to court their buy-in to the League’s activities.
