Standard Vision, today addressed members of the press in Abuja regarding the significant progress made in organizing the inaugural International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Islamic Ethics. The highly anticipated event will take place on Wednesday, 6th, and Thursday, 7th November 2024, at the Conference Hall of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, located at No. 21 Race Course Road, opposite Murtala Square, Kaduna, Nigeria.
The theme of this first-of-its-kind conference reflects the increasing global interest in aligning the advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) with ethical considerations rooted in Islamic values. The conference aims to bring together leading scholars, clerics, industry pioneers, and policymakers to explore how AI can be harmonized with ethical principles to foster inclusive and responsible technological innovation.
The distinguished Executive Governor of Kaduna State will serve as the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Host for this event, marking his commitment to supporting dialogues that shape the ethical future of technology. Additionally, governors of Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, as well as the First Ladies of Bauchi and Gombe, are anticipated to attend the opening ceremony, reinforcing the significance of this event on both state and regional levels.
The conference will feature insightful keynote presentations and engaging panel discussions, aimed at exploring the profound ethical implications of AI in sectors such as governance, healthcare, education, and finance. A series of fireside chats will also provide a platform for interactive discussions, allowing participants to address critical questions on AI ethics, regulation, and societal impact.
Prominent scholars and clerics will lead the keynote addresses, drawing connections between Islamic ethical teachings and the responsible application of AI in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Industry leaders will also share case studies and best practices, highlighting how ethical AI can enhance economic development, drive social welfare, and respect cultural and religious values.
With over 1000 registered participants who have registered and are ready to attend physically and virtually from across Nigeria and other nations, this conference promises to set the stage for meaningful collaborations, establishing frameworks that will guide AI innovations in culturally and ethically conscious directions.
Dr. Grema Kyari expressed his gratitude to the esteemed attendees and partners, reiterating the organization’s commitment to fostering a future where AI not only drives progress but does so in ways that are just, humane, and ethical. He extended an open invitation to thought leaders, innovators, and the wider community to join this landmark event, signaling a bold step toward a future where Artificial Intelligence and ethical values work hand in hand for the betterment of society.
