Yobe Commissioners end Retreat, to consolidate on Gov. Buni’s first term, lay foundation of legacy projects

The retreat organised for members of Yobe State Executive Council ended at the weekend on high note, with the cabinet members resolving to consolidate on Governor Mai Mala Buni’s first term and lay foundation of legacy projects of the administration.
The three-day retreat held at the Bristol Palace Hotel, Kano, Kano State with the theme ‘Repositioning Yobe State to be the pride of the Nation’ was aimed at fostering inter-personal team work, to share the vision and priorities of the Buni administration towards leaving a lasting legacy for the people of Yobe state.
Rising from the three-day event, the cabinet members came up with a communique, which indicated their resolution and expectations as they prepared to fully to resume office at their respective positions.
The summary of the communique indicates that the participants had intensive sessions with all the facilitators, who shared practical thoughts on governance and measuring performance.
The cabinet members have made commitment to work together and compliment one another’s efforts towards achieving the Governor’s vision, to consolidate on the gains of the first term and lay foundation of legacy projects of the administration.
Recall, at the opening of the event, Governor Buni gave background on the major achievements of his administration, upon which he wanted future successes to be built.
He stressed the values of his administration, which were centred on adherence to due process, completion of all ongoing projects, and embarking on essential new ones focusing on empowerment to cope with post-insurgency livelihoods
restoration and the nationwide current challenges of oil subsidy withdrawal and
inflationary pressure facing the entire Nigerian citizenry.
The Governor enjoined the Cabinet Members to continue to uphold the principles of prudence, transparency, probity, and accountability to enable his administration to relieve itself of the burden of people’s trust, which he stressed as a collective moral responsibility for the Executive Council.
He further outlined an 11-point agenda to be rapidly pursued by his administration for the acceleration of the development of the state.
This all-encompassing agenda consists of Security, Education, health. Agriculture, Commerce and Industry, Infrastructure, Mass Housing, Water Resources and Environment, Wealth Creation, Poverty Reduction, and Empowerment, Governance and Accountability, and Law and Order.
