Yobe Assembly Passes 320bn 2025 Budget

The Yobe State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2025 budget, amounting to N320.7 billion, a slight decrease of N15m from the initial N320.8 billion proposed by Governor Mai Mala Buni CON for recurrent and capital expenditures.
The House of Assembly passed the budget following the adoption of the report of its standing committee on finance and appropriation during a plenary session on Wednesday.
Presenting the committee’s report, the Chairman, Hon, Buba Ibrahim Kalallawa explained that after extensive budget defense sessions with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), a slight adjustment were made to ensure a realistic budget estimate.
He said that a total of over N144 billion representing 44 percent was allocated to recurrent expenditures.
While over N176 billion representing 55 percent was allocated for capital expenditures.
Hon. Buba Kalallawa said the House has allocated 15.1% of the budget to the health sector to enable the executive arm of government to improve the healthcare services delivery in the state.
He called on the internally generating revenue Agencies to ensure proper remittance of revenue to enable the state government to finance the 2025 budget for more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Presiding over the sitting, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio commended the House committee on finance and appropriation and other members for their various contributions towards the quick passage of the 2025 budget.
