Yobe Civil Servants Get Credit Alert For December Salary On New Minimum Wage
By Yusuf Ali
Glad to inform the public that salary payments for the month of Devember on the new minimum wage approved by His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON have commenced.
The Yobe State civil workers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have started receiving their December salary on the new minimum wage structure.
Some staff at the MDAs I interacted with confirmed that they have started receiving their salaries.
A staff at the Ministry of Finance said December salaries on the new minimum wage are supposed to be paid since last week Thursday to Friday but delayed due to compliance with Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems which provides the infrastructure for automated processing, settlement of payments and fund transfer systems between banks.
To be clear, prompt payment of workers’ salary has never been an issue in Yobe State. So if one goes to town and say that salary was paid in Yobe, for example on the 20th that workers are jubilating he is not wrong.
It is little wonder that the state government has made salary payments in Yobe State a first-line charge from the government treasury.
But, as people increasingly testify, regular and consistent salary payments are just a tip of the iceberg in Yobe State.
Under H.E Gov. Buni’s pragmatic leadership Yobe’s seen the arc of socio-economic development bend in the direction of demonstrable progress. In education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, women and youth empowerment etc., the marks that Gov. Buni is making are unmistakable.
