XMAS : Catholic church Yola donates items worth millions to Yola prison inmates

In commentation of the 2024 Christmas ceremony, the Catholic Church of Yola Diocese, has donated items worth millions of naira to inmates in Yolde-pate maximum correctional centre in Adamawa state.

Presenting the items to the officials of the correctional center in Yola Tuesday, Bishop of the Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza expressed gratitude to Almighty God for being merciful and faithful to mankind by making possible for all to witness another day to celebrate Christmas.

While addressing the inmates, Bishop Mamza admonished them to take their plights in the confined space for character correction as a destiny in their lives noting that right from creation, what ever will happen to a man had been ordained.

Mamza enjoin them to engage in to the available skills acquisition Programs being render in the correctional facility so as to master a trade which would be a source of livelihood after they might have completed their jail term.

He told them that being in the prison is not the end of someone’s life rather a secured place where convicted people are being trained for correctional measures against an earlier mistake or offence committed which attract sanctions.

He also announced that the church decided to celebrate this year’s Christmas with a support of items including ; 672 pears of slippers for matured age, 180 pieces of Sanitary Izal, 1080 pieces of Medium Vaseline cream, 720 pieces of soap for washing and bathing.

According to him another 40 pieces of robber mats as well as 1 cartoon of different medicines for health concerns urging the officials to ensure that the goods reach the desired target.

Bishop Mamza also told the inmates and prison officials at the facility especially the christians faithfuls that, the ongoing construction of a prayer cell will soon be completed by a Yola based philanthropist and founder of Enmanu foundation, Dr Emmanuel Musa.

Responding for the gesture, the in charge of the Correctional facility Yolde-pate, Assistant Controller of Prison, ACP Williams Ben Cham expressed gratitude to the church and Bishop and his entourage for visiting the facility with support at this festive season.

ACP Cham assured that the items brought would be shared judiciously amongst the inmates so as to satisfy the desire of the providers of the goods.
