The prominent Kano-based Islamic Cleric Sheikh Aminu Daurawa and his counterpart and Friday Prayer Leader, National Mosque, Abuja, Prof. Ibrahim Maqari visited H.E Governor Mai Mala Buni CON in Government House, Damaturu as part of the GORBO Foundation 2024 Annual Event.
The GORBO Foundation was founded by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) for taking care of orphans and other humanitarian work for the benefit of the people.
The prominent Islamic scholars Sheikh Daurawa and Prof. Maqari were in Damaturu to deliver lectures as part of Da’awah commemorating the 2024 annual event of the Foundation.
Sheikh Daurawa and Prof. Maqari expressed appreciation and gratitude to Governor Buni and his Deputy for the moral and material support provided in hosting the annual events of the Foundation.
Through the GORBO Foundation, Yobe Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting orphans and other humanitarian works through various initiatives.
He established the GORBO Orphanage Foundation, which has been instrumental in providing educational support to orphans in the region. In March 2021, Gubana provided school fees and learning materials to the foundation, benefiting numerous orphans in Fune Local Government Area.
The foundation has conducted multiple distributions of learning materials and payment of school fees. In December 2022, during the seventh distribution phase, 1,165 orphans received school uniforms and learning materials to support their education.
Beyond educational support, Gubana has encouraged the community to adopt and show kindness to orphans, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in their upbringing.
Additionally, during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in May 2020, Gubana distributed food and other palliatives to orphans and vulnerable individuals in Fune, ensuring they could partake in the festivities.
These efforts highlight Deputy Governor Gubana’s dedication to improving the lives of orphans in Yobe State through education, community involvement, and direct support.
