The Katsina State Executive Council has approved the release of over N1 billion as counterpart funding to access more than N10 billion TETFUND intervention for establishing a teaching hospital at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina.
State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua, disclosed this to journalists following the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, today at Government House, Katsina.
The funding aims to facilitate the full commencement of the MBBS program at the institution.
“The establishment of the teaching hospital has been the prerequisite for the medicine course at the University,” Alhaji Funtua stated.
Similarly, the Commissioner announced that the State Executive Council has approved the contract review for the abandoned ophthalmology center project at General Amadi Rimi Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina.
“The contract sum has been revised from N407 million to over N500 million, following recommendations from the committee of experts who conducted an assessment and evaluation of the project,” he added.
