Reproductive Health: Unicef, Partners target 75,000 adolescent girls, unveil ASWA lll project in Adamawa.

UNICEF in partnership with United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA  and Adamawa State Primary Care Devt. Agency,ADSPCDA have organized a discussion panel session for selected adolescent children and experts on  girls reproductive health.

According to Unicef 75,000 adolescent girls are being targeted for the scheme annually in the state

During the interactive session in Yola Wednesday,the young girls of mostly between 18 and 19 years old asked though provoking questions about their present stage of life and what is expected of them as future mothers as well as leaders in their on right which were elaborately responded by experts.

Among the reached resolutions at the meeting was the urgent need for the federal,state governments and stakeholders to prioritize adolescent children issues especially on reprodu-ctive concerns and redoubled their commitments towards making life more comfortable for the adolescent children in the society through their various programmes, policies and activities.

In her remarks, the chief of field office Unicef Bauchi,Nuzhat Rafique said that the program was part of the Unicef and it’s partners line of programmes in the commemoration of the 2025 International Women’s day and decided to observed it specially for the girl child adolescent.

Rafique called for more commitments and investments in this important area of Health need by all stakeholders especially Government urging the girls to say capital “NO” to any form of abuse or manipulations against them.

She admonished them to stand on their feet and be aware  of their rights such as ; right to protection, right to Education so as to know their various rights which will enable them to protect and take good care of themselves, their families and communities from any form of abuse as future mothers.

She therefore charged state government to key in to a project for adolescent aids nicknamed Strengthening Action on Reproductive Adolescent Health (EU-SARAH) to access grants in advancing adolescent related activities.

Corroborating in the vein, an expert said that the program was meant for three (3) states including Adamawa,Kwara and Sokoto states saying that it is a rare privilege that shouldn’t be allowed to Skip easily.

One of the panelists while contributing at discussion panel  said that it is inline with this commitments  that,They are operating a project for  adolescent children  known as ” strengthening Action on Reproductive adolescent Health( EU- SARAH) in 3 states in Nigeria namely Adamawa  sokoto and Kwara states.

He noted that in Adamawa alone,they  are targeting over 75,000 adolescent children every year so they are projecting over 170,000 adolescent in the next 4 years to benefits from the project  aimed at bringing succour to them and called for more collaborations among stakeholders.
