NDE to train 1,151 employed youth & Women under Renewed Hope Initiative in Adamawa

No fewer than 1,151 unemployed youth and women have been selected to participate in the National Directorate of Employment, NDE skills acquisition training programmes in Adamawa state.

State Acting Coordinator of Directorate, Mrs Pwa’angulma Josiah disclosed the development at the flag-off ceremony of the training held in Yola Thursday stressing that the programme is the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI 2) established to address unemployment challenge in the country.

Represented at the occasion by Head of Department (HOD), Rural Employment Program of the Directorate,Hajiya Zainab A.Audu.Mrs Josiah said that the training will create employment and generate wealth that will go along way to reduce the number of unemployed person’s in the state.

Josiah highlighted that, the training duration range between one to three months, and also some schemes are split into two phases including; theory training to last for one to two weeks and the experiential adaptive farm training to last for three to ten weeks respectively.

While assuring the lucky beneficiaries of qualitative training by experts in all aspects of the trainings, the Coordinator urged them to be serious about the engagement.

In his keynote address at the flag-off ceremony, the Director General of the NDE,His Excellency Silas Ali Agara said that the event ushered in the beginning of the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative,RHEI 2.with the intention to address unemployment challenge.

Agara who was represented by the state Acting Coordinator, Mrs Pwa’angulma Josiah stated that the programme was flagged off nationwide on December 6th, 2024 successfully trained 32,692 unskilled and unemployed Nigerians in demand driven skills across the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja .

He added that a total of 5,532 beneficiaries were settled with loans and starts packs explaining that in this second phase, the NDE will train 41,307 persons in over 30 skills ranging from the vocational, entrepreneurial, Agriculture,ICT and activities in the public works sector.

He maintained that the Directorate had improved and digitalized the process through robust online registration from the portal of the organization which made the process more transparent,fair and equitable giving a credible database.

“The trainees were drawn from the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT with a minimum of 4 persons in each of the 8,809 electoral wards in Nigeria to further ensure exclusivity “.Agara stated.

In their separate responses on behalf of the beneficiaries,Kenneth Maxwell and Aina’u Yahuza expressed gratitude to the NDE for offering them the opportunity to get the training so that they can become employers of labour after the program pledging to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the process.
