Yobe Unveils Roads, Markets, Trailer Park Projects Under Buni’s Development Drive

By Hussaini Ibrahim

YOBE, Nigeria — The Yobe State Government on Tuesday showcased a fresh wave of strategic infrastructure projects across the state, underscoring Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to inclusive development, economic expansion and long-term prosperity.

The projects were unveiled during a media tour led by the State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Buba Kyari, who said the initiatives reflect the governor’s vision of using infrastructure as a catalyst for growth, job creation and improved living standards.

Kyari said the tour followed a day after the government announced the completion of nine modern markets across the state, another flagship achievement of the Buni administration aimed at strengthening commerce and Internally Generated Revenue.

Among the projects inspected was the Dawasa–Cikuriwa–Kokori Road, a 16.5-kilometre stretch in Nangere Local Government Area.

The commissioner said the road project embodies Governor Buni’s resolve to open up rural communities, enhance mobility and support agricultural and commercial activities.

In Potiskum, Kyari said the construction of a modern market and the renovation of schools further demonstrate the governor’s holistic approach to development, combining economic infrastructure with investments in education and human capital.

Also in Potiskum, the commissioner revealed that a truck transit park capable of accommodating about 500 trucks at a time is being developed under Governor Buni’s administration.

He said the facility is expected to generate about 5,000 jobs, reduce congestion and position the town as a major logistics hub in the North-East.

Daily Hint gathered that the project aligns with the governor’s broader plan to modernise transport infrastructure and create employment opportunities for youths across the state.

The media team also visited the Galda Modern Market and another market project in Galda, Fika Local Government Area, both designed to provide organised trading environments and enhance local economic activities.

In addition, Kyari said work is progressing on the Jajere 50-kilometre road, describing it as another testament to Governor Buni’s determination to improve inter-community connectivity and stimulate economic integration across Yobe.

According to the commissioner, Governor Buni’s administration has prioritised projects that deliver direct social and economic benefits, particularly in underserved areas.

“These projects reflect His Excellency’s people-centred leadership and his unwavering belief that development must be felt at the grassroots,” Kyari said.

He assured that Governor Buni remains personally committed to the timely completion and quality delivery of all ongoing projects, stressing that the administration will continue to invest in infrastructure that supports trade, employment and sustainable development across Yobe State.
