Imo takes delivery of new electricity equipment to boost supply
By Hussaini Ibrahim
OWERRI — The Imo State Government has received another consignment of electricity equipment in Owerri, a move aimed at strengthening power distribution and advancing Governor Hope Uzodimma’s plan to provide round-the-clock electricity in the state capital and neighbouring communities.
In a statement obtained by Daily Hint, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, said the delivery marks a fresh step in the state’s ongoing power reform programme.
“Owerri on Friday received another consignment of electricity equipment, marking a fresh step in the steady march toward round-the-clock power supply in Imo State,” Nwaogwugwu said.
The equipment is intended to expand distribution capacity, reduce outages, and support uninterrupted electricity supply across key areas of Owerri and surrounding communities. Officials confirmed that installation would commence immediately in line with the project schedule.
Nwaogwugwu highlighted that the development reflects Governor Uzodimma’s unwavering commitment to modernising power infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents. “The promise of 24-hour electricity is not a slogan but a carefully sequenced programme already in motion under the Governor’s leadership,” he said.
He praised the governor for prioritising long-term infrastructure solutions over short-term fixes, noting that consistent investment in modern networks, equipment, and system reliability has already begun delivering tangible results.
Residents and business owners in Owerri have reportedly begun experiencing improvements in electricity supply, with longer supply hours and fewer disruptions. The latest delivery is expected to consolidate these gains, creating a more stable environment for commerce, healthcare, education, and daily life.
According to Daily Hint, the ongoing installations position Imo State as a model for subnational power reform, highlighting Governor Uzodimma’s strategic and results-driven approach to governance and economic development.
“The road to uninterrupted electricity is being built in full view, and each delivery brings the state closer to that goal,” the statement concluded, underscoring the governor’s vision and dedication to sustainable infrastructure.
