Gov Buni approves permanent employment for 56 Yobe microfinance staff
By Hussaini Ibrahim
DAMATURU, YOBE STATE — Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni CON, has approved the permanent employment of 56 staff of Yobe Microfinance Bank into the Yobe State Civil Service, granting them both permanent and pensionable appointments, Daily Hint reports.
The decision, hailed by stakeholders as a demonstration of Governor Buni’s commitment to youth empowerment and institutional development, was disclosed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Sheriff Almuhajir, who informed staff of the approval.
Almuhajir recalled that when he assumed office as MD/CEO, the bank had only 26 staff, mostly on contract appointments, with just one officer seconded from the Ministry of Finance.
He said the bank later recruited 47 young professionals, trained and mentored to drive the institution’s operations.
“Over the past six years, several of these staff have risen to occupy key positions as Heads of Departments, Branch Managers, and Unit Heads, contributing significantly to the stability and growth of the bank,” Almuhajir said, Daily Hint gathered.
Following sustained engagement with the state government, Governor Buni approved the permanent employment of all 56 existing staff, a move described by many as a life-changing development that strengthens job security and motivates young professionals across the state.
Daily Hint reports that the approval has been widely welcomed by staff of Yobe Microfinance Bank, who praised Governor Buni for his dedication to improving livelihoods, institutional efficiency, and promoting a culture of meritocracy within the civil service.
Observers say the decision underscores Governor Buni’s proactive approach to governance, youth empowerment, and the strategic growth of state-owned institutions.
