Suleiman elected ED Network of Civil Society Organization in Borno state

The Network of Civil Society Organizations of Borno State (NECSOB) has elected Abubakar Suleiman as Executive Director who run the affairs of the organization in the state.

Suleiman emerges at the end of its bi-annual elections which took place on [Insert Date], was conducted via a seamless electronic voting system yesterday..

In his farewell address, the Outgoing Executive Director, Comrade Bulama Abiso, said that the speed and transparency of the process—concluding within one hour—serves as a powerful testament to the capacity of local civil society to lead democratic innovation in Nigeria.

In his inaugural spech, Mr. Suleiman, who also heads the Center for Social Cohesion, Peace, and Empowerment (CENSECO), outlined a bold vision titled “Embracing a New Era: Results-Driven Civil Society in Borno State.” “We are moving beyond mere representation,” Suleiman stated. “Our focus is now on structured influence, coordination, and ensuring that the humanitarian reset in Borno prioritizes local actors who understand the cultural and linguistic nuances of our communities.”

He said the new administration’s strategic priorities include:
The Localization Movement: Advocating for local NGOs to secure a fair share of humanitarian funding and lead on-the-ground interventions.
Strategic Engagement: Establishing regular dialogue forums with government actors and international development partners.
Innovation: Implementing a centralized data hub and leveraging digital tools to amplify the voices of displaced and marginalized populations.
The transition marks a pivotal moment for Borno State as NECSOB seeks to consolidate past achievements while introducing fresh frameworks for accountability and community inclusion.
