Bauchi Governor Vows to Clear Outstanding Scholarship Awards

By Mamuda Sani

The Bauchi government has assured the indigenous students that all pending scholarship awards would be settled before the end of this month.

Governor Bala Mohammed made the commitment while addressing leadership and members of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) who went to congratulate him on his victory at the Supreme Court.

The governor, who noted that he granted approval for the disbursement of the scholarship, wondered why some of the students are yet to receive their entitlement.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Kashim, the governor promised to direct relevant stakeholders, including the commissioner for education and the treasury office to investigate the reason for the delay in the process with a view to address the pending issues.

While appreciating the students for the solidarity visit, the governor also pledged more commitment to the welfare of the students.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the NUBASS National President, Adam Muhammad Tukur, who congratulated the governor on the victory, emphasized the need for the state government to consider the plight of the affected students.

According to him, about thirty per cent of the students studying within and outside the state are yet to receive the scholarship despite the governor’s approval.

He, therefore, pledged the support of all the indigenous students to the Bala Mohammed-led administration.
