By-election: Jalingo Residents Comply With Vehicles Movement Order

Residents of Jalingo, Taraba, complied with the vehicular movement restriction ordered by the police for hitch free conduct of by-election in the constituency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all roads within Jalingo town were barricaded by security operatives.
The security personnel were seeing returning few motorists on the roads to where they were coming from, except those carrying pass of essential services A NAN correspondent who monitored the poll reported low turnout of voters for the election.
According to the reporter, election materials and electoral officers were available at the pooling units in the metropolis as early as 6 a.m but only few prospective voters came out for accreditation..
NAN reports that the bye-election was ordered by INEC to fill a vacant seat of Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The seat became vacant in April following the death of Isma’ila Maihanchi, the House of Representatives member-elect for the constituency.
Maihanchi, 37, who reportedly died in Abuja after a brief illness was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During the election, he defeated the incumbent, Kasimu Maigatari.
