Boko Haram Raids Niger Communities, Destroys 30 Houses

By Usman nda Usman

Gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram have attacked a community in Shiroro Local Government Area of the State.

The attackers reportedly invade Allawa village at around 8:00 pm on Sunday.

Confirming the attack, the president of the Lakpma Youth Assembly, Jibrin Abdullahi, told DAILY NIGERIAN that the gunmen razed over 30 houses, 175 cattle, and over 150 bags of assorted grains.

He added that the community had been witnessing the influx of bandits and Boko Haram members from neighbouring communities, leading to mass killings and abductions.

“We have been witnessing the influx of bandits in the past few days, from Kaduna towards Allawa district.

“And before then, our people had been witnessing the presence of Boko Haram members who have relocated from Sabon Gida, Kurebe district, to Allawa ward.

“So there has been an increase in the attacks, to the extent that on February 12th, these elements stormed Allawa Pandogari Road and planted landmines, which destroyed trucks conveying food items and killed some occupants.

“Two women and one male were also shot dead,” Mr Abdullahi said.

The youth leader added that the terrorists had earlier attacked the community on Saturday but were repelled by the military.

“But they came back on Sunday using a different route. And the route is a bit far away from the military camp.

“Immediately after they arrive, they begin shooting sporadically and burning anything they come across.

“In the process, they razed over 30 houses, 150 bags of soybeans and maize. Over 175 vows, were also burned. As I speak to you, over 41 households have been displaced,” he added

According to him, the terrorists killed three people in Saminaka and burned houses; “they also did the same thing in Kurmi. Before arriving Kurmi, they saw three youths walking on the roadside and slaughter them”.

When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, didn’t respond to our correspondent’s WhatsApp message on the incident.

The attempt to also get the reaction of the spokesman for Governor Umaru Bago, Bologi Ibrahim, was unsuccessful as he didn’t respond to our correspondent call.
