Why Nigerians Must Take Ownership of Fight Against Corruption — Group
By Moses Sule
A Civil Society Organisation, Unity Advocacy Group (UAG), has called on Nigerians to take full ownership of the ongoing war against insecurity in the country.
The Convener of the group, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, in statement on Sunday in Abuja, said all segments of the society must rally in support of the military and other security agencies to address the menace.
Aigbedion said the group strongly agreed with a recent call by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, for all Nigerians to be positive about the future.
He said that citizens should support the military with their hearts and minds, so that collectively, the nation will overcome the security challenges.
The convener said though the challenges facing the country are enormous, “we must look at the positive as well as speak well of our country and whatever is going on.
“The huge sacrifices being made by members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria require the support of every citizen to restore peace and stability.
“We commend the military for sustaining the operations against bandits, terrorists in the North, irredentists in the Southeast, oil thieves in the South-South and kidnappers in various parts of the country.” NAN
