-as BOSU graduates first set of 510 students, secured accreditation of 30 programmes

I am leaving as a fulfilled vice Chancellor, as I am leaving behind a university with accreditation of all programmes and first set of 510 students graduated, the Vice Chancellor, Borno state University (BOSU), Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe said

Addressing a valedictory Press conference at the Senate Building of the University on Wednesday, the Vice Chancellor said “the University took off with 647 students during the 2019/2020 session and now student population stands at 6,101. The first set of 510 students graduated during the 2023/2024 session and their results are being issued to them “.

“Five While students bagged first class, 143 second class upper, 327 second class lower and 35 bagged third class . While faculty of Agriculture being a five year program would graduate during 2924)25 session academic year”, Prof Sandabe said.

The Vice Chancellor said ” the academic activities started with the Ed inauguration of the University Senate on 17 October, 2019. The academic activities commenced during 2019/2020 academic session with 30 programmes at the four faculties if Agriculture, Art and Education, Social and management Seciences and faculty of science with the matriculation of 647 students on 30th January, 2020″.

He said during 5 years of his tenure the management visited intervention Organisations to attract and develop infrastructures at the institution, adding that attracted the award of UCT hub, the University visit to TETFund saw to enrollment of the institution. then TETFund awarded the funds under high impact projects and the University built College of Health service , Machanical workshop, entrepreneurship centre, construction of mass communication studio complex all completed.

” In February, 2023, the University secured accreditation in 28 programmes as ND interm accreditation in 2 programmes , thereby scoring 100 percent accreditation . The three faculties graduated successful students while faculty of Agriculture which 5 year program is expected to graduate it’s students next academic session”, Prof Sandabe added.

On training, the VC said 27 academic staff are on masters , 20 on Phd training both at home and abroad in the course of time at the last session the university got it’s first professors and a reader promotion by assessments..

The VC thanked the Vice President Kashim Shettima for appointing the management, Governmor Babagana Zulum for supporting the Ed management to achieve to his feet, present and former commissioners of Higher education, intervening agencies among other stakeholders.
