Bandits Abduct Assistant Controller of Corrections in Niger

Suspected bandits have kidnapped a senior officer with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Niger State Command.
An assistant controller of corrections, Abdulrahman Ibrahim Gegele was kidnapped along the Ilorin-Minna road, on April 17, 2024.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Command’s spokesman in Niger State, CSC Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu, on Thursday evening.
It was gathered that the incident has been shrouded in secrecy with the belief that he will regain his freedom soon but after over a week, it has become a topic of discussion among personnel of the Service.
The officer was said to have been abducted on his way to Minna from Ilorin where he went on vacationThe statement said the abductors contacted the family once two days ago and he was allowed to speak with them but since then there has been no further communication from them.
According to the statement, the controller of corrections, Niger State, Mohammed Hamisu Isa solicited prayers for his safe release.
