Abuja Will Experience Two Weeks of Power Outages, TCN Confirms, gives reason
By Aisha Musa
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has announced a planned power rationing across parts of Abuja from January 6 to January 20, 2025, due to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA)’s ongoing road dualisation project along the Apo axis.
In a statement issued on Saturday, TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, explained that the project necessitates the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV transmission towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line.
This will result in daily power outages from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Affected areas include Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, Apo Mechanic, Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe, Chika, and Alaita.
Mbah assured that power supply would be fully restored once the tower relocation and restringing of power cables are completed.
She also apologized for the inconvenience, emphasizing that the exercise is essential for the successful completion of the road project.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), had earlier warned customers of power interruptions in parts of its service areas between January 6 and January 21.
