Adamawa Govt To Shutdown Hotels Without CCTV Cameras

Following the recent suspected ritual killing of a lady at a hotel in Yola,Adamawa state capital,the state government has threaten to close down any hotel without CCTV recording cameras.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri issued the threat in Yola yesterday at an emergency meeting with over 70 registered hospitality business owners in the state.
Represented at the meeting by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintiri while describing the killing of the victim as babaric announced that, henceforth any hospitality business premises must install CCTV cameras or risk fizzling out of business for refusing to adhere to government directive.
Fintiri also cautioned the hotel owners to ensure the safety of their customers warning them that negligence and insecurity in the hotels will not be tolerated.
He stressed that protection of life and property of the citizens is the his Government’s top priority which not be toyed with announcing that,
a committee has already been set up to go round and ensure compliance of the government’s directive.
However, the state chairman of Hotelians’ Association,Samuel Aduata assured of the union’s cooperation to avoid future occurrence of the recent killing.
On their own part, the State Police has urged the public to give timely information to the security to enable them take immediate action as the police is committed to ensuring peace and stability in the state.
It could be recalled that, a middle age lady was killed by a suspected ritualist after lodging in at Happy Day Guess inn situated in the state capital on the 18th January 2024 pretending to be guest with the slain victim.
Daily Hint reported that the meeting was held at Government House Yola with top government officials, hospitality business owners and security agencies in the state
