Adamawa Govt Vow to Tackle Illegal Mining in Ganye Chiefdom.

From Umar Dankano, Yola.

The Adamawa state government has vow to address activities of illegal minners towards mitigating security threats  in Ganye Chiefdom and across the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made this known at Government House Yola while receiving the Paramount ruler of Ganye Chief, the Gangwari Ganye,Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda and his entourage who were on thank you visit to the Governor.

Governor Fintiri stated, “We have set machinery in motion to curb illegal mining in the state. I don’t have to wait for the Federal Government to act. Together with your support, we will nip security problems in the bud.”

He urged the people of Ganye to complement government efforts by being vigilant and monitoring suspicious movements of informants and criminal agents within their communities.

“You’re an excellent leader. It’s rare to have the type of Gangwari you have. We will continue to support you and every section of the state. Let us promote peaceful coexistence for the collective benefit of our state,” Fintiri added.

He also assured the community that the development train would reach Ganye, noting that much still needs to be done to close existing gaps. He called on the community to support government efforts, especially in facilitating the establishment of a military base, an initiative originally proposed by a native of the area.

In his remarks, the Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for the support given before, during, and after his silver jubilee celebration held recently in Ganye.

He noted that the event enhanced unity and strengthened diplomatic relations, describing it as an international gathering that brought people together.

The royal father also acknowledged the Governor’s policy of creating new districts and appointing traditional rulers, pledging the continued support of traditional institutions for the government’s development agenda.

“We understand and appreciate the philosophy behind the creation of more districts and traditional rulers. We will support this initiative wholeheartedly,” the monarch said.

He further appealed for federal government intervention in establishing a security base in the area to prevent criminal activities, especially from illegal miners operating in the region.
