Adamawa/Taraba Customs Command read riot act to unrepentant smugglers

The Adamawa/Taraba states Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service to has generated over N20 million out of its annual revenue generation target of N134 million for 2024 fiscal year.
Area Comptroller of the Command,Garba Bature Bashar disclosed the hint in Yola Thursday at a press conference stressing despite the command being a free trade zone was able to generated such figure in five (5) months and still counting for the target before the year rounds out.
On the declaration of the state of emergency on the smuggling of petroleum motor spirit (PMS)and other petroleum products by the Comptroller General of the Service, Compt.Bashar said that his command has repositioned all its machinery at the boarders in the two states of Adamawa and Taraba to ensure thorough enforcement.
He announced that two Toyota hiance C20 buses were arrested loaded with 13,800 litres of PMS in 554 Jerry cans containing of 25 litres each with cumulative value of over N12 million accordingly.
He stated that the smuggled products were apprehended around Sahuda/Belel boarder heading to Cameroon Republic on the 17th and 18th May 2024.
Comptroller Bashar charged his men and officers to redouble their efforts in the fight against smuggling activities warning that any one caught in the act will be prosecuted as provided in the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 (Amended).
While calling for more support and cooperation from various communities in the Command,Bashar assures that people with legitimate businesses have nothing to fear with the feat in fighting unrepentant smugglers who are bent on sabotaging the economy of the nation.
