Adamawa/Taraba Customs Command read riot act to unrepentant smugglers

The Adamawa/Taraba states Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has warned people engaging in to smuggling activities to desist from such act or face theI wrath of the law.
Comptroller of the Command, Compt. Garba Bature Bashir gave the warning in Yola while parading some seizures of petroleum motor spirit (PMS) products conciled in Jerry cans with the vehicles used for conveyance to cross boarder heading to Cameroon Republic.
Bashir said that his command has repositioned all its machinery at the boarders in the two states of Adamawa and Taraba to ensure thorough enforcement against unrepentant smugglers noting that, two Toyota hiance buses (C20) were arrested loaded with 13,800 litres of PMS in 554 Jerry cans containing of 25 litres each with cumulative value of over N12 million accordingly.
He stated that the smuggled products were apprehended around Sahuda/Belel boarder heading to Cameroon Republic on the 17th and 18th May 2024 insisting that the war against smuggling activities is total as declared by the high command of the service.
On the 2024 revenue generation target for his command,Bashir confirmed that, his area command has so far generated over N20 million out of its annual revenue generation target of N137 million for this fiscal year.
The Area Comptroller assures that his command despite being an enforcement zone would do its best to realizing the target given by the customs head quarters before the year rounds out.
Bashir charged his men and officers to redouble their efforts in the fight against smuggling activities warning that any one caught in the act will be prosecuted as provided in the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 (Amended).
He therefore call for more support and cooperation from various communities especially those situated at the boarder-towns in the Command urging people with legitimate businesses to go about their legal commercial activities without fear of molestation or encumbrances from any quarters.
