Amaju Pinnick Sues Davido for Breach of contract, Requests N2.3bn.

By Joy Joseph, Lagos

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick, has taken legal action against Davido for allegedly breaching their contract. Last month, Amaju publicly expressed his disappointment with Davido for failing to perform at his event despite paying him a significant amount and booking a private jet for his crew.

Amaju claimed to have paid Davido $94,600 for the concert performance and spent an additional $18,000 on booking a private jet for him and his crew. He also compared Davido to his rival, Burna Boy, suggesting that Burna Boy was more reliable.

The organizers of the concert have now filed a lawsuit against Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) Limited, seeking N2.3 billion in damages. Amaju, represented by Brownhill Investment Company Limited, is requesting N150 million for legal and professional fees, along with an additional N30 million for the cost of filing the lawsuit.

In addition to the financial claims, Pinnick is demanding a public apology from Davido on his social media accounts for four consecutive days. He is also seeking an injunction to prevent Davido from performing at any show or event in Nigeria until he refunds the payment he received.

Davido initially responded to Amaju’s accusations by bragging about his success and making a donation offer to NFF. However, he later apologized to his fans in Warri and explained his absence from the event.
