Aspirants Denied Fair Hearing as Appeal Committee Abandons Assignment in Maiduguri
By Madu Mohammed, Maiduguri.
Dr. Grema Kyari, together with other aspirants for the State Executive positions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State, visited the Party Secretariat in Maiduguri to submit their formal complaint regarding the LGA Congress held on Saturday, 20th September 2025. Unfortunately, on arrival, they met an empty Secretariat as the committee members were not on seat.
The three-man Appeal Committee, chaired by Hon. Philip Gwom from Plateau State, only appeared at the Secretariat on Tuesday. During this visit, Hon. Gwom publicly declared that no complaints had been received from any aspirants. Shockingly, it was later discovered that the committee had already conducted a sitting before the official commencement of their assignment in Maiduguri.
To further compound the matter, the committee members left Maiduguri on the very day they were officially scheduled to begin their work. This action has raised deep concerns about fairness, transparency, and adherence to due process in the handling of the PDP ward and LGA Congress appeals.
The aspirants therefore call on the National Leadership of the PDP to urgently intervene and address this breach of procedure in order to safeguard justice, equity, and internal democracy within the party.
