Barr. D.D Azura join governorship race in Adamawa, defects to ruling APC.

Former Senatorial Aspirant under the PDP in the 2023 election Barrister DD Azura has declared his intention to contest for governorship seat in Adamawa state.
Azura had also officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling a major shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Azura announced his defection at his home town Makera in Hong local Government area during a stakeholder engagement meeting attended by party leaders, political allies, and community representatives.
At the gathering, he formally announced his intention to run for governor in 2027 on the APC platform.
Addressing the stakeholders, Azura stated that his decision to leave the PDP was motivated by the need for “a more progressive and people-oriented platform” to implement his vision for the state.
He also thanked the PDP for giving him the opportunity to run on its platform but emphasized that he had already decided to pursue his ambitions within the APC.
“I am grateful to the PDP for their confidence in me and the offer they extended. However, after careful consideration and extensive consultations, I have decided to run for the APC, where I believe my vision better aligns with the aspirations of our people,” he stated.
Azura also called for unity within the APC, urging members to work together to win the upcoming elections.
He assured party leaders that he was ready to make a meaningful contribution to the party’s growth and electoral success.
The APC Chairman Hong local government represented by the APC Secretary Hong local government Habu Hamidu lauded the decision of Barr DD Azura for for coming home to meet with party officials assuring equal treatment for all party members.
The APC Chairman Bangshika ward Alhaji Sanusi and other Stakeholders present at the meeting welcomed his decision, expressing hope that his joining the APC would boost the party’s chances in the 2027 governorship race.
According to political observers, Azura’s defection could reshape alliances and intensify competition among major parties as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
