Borno police command: New CP, Abdulmajid, assumes office as Commissioner

Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid has assumed office, as a new CP Borno state command, following the retirement of the former CP, CP Yusufu Kawal after attaining 60 years of age.

The Police, in a statement issued by the Command’s, Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Nahum Daso, on Tuesday Said ” CP Abdulmajid is the 43rd Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, as he took over from CP Yusuf Lawal, psc, who retired from active service on 8th June, 2025.”

CP Naziru Abdulmajid who hailed from Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP), Course 19, on 16th August, 1996.

“He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Geography from the prestigious Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto”, the statement said.

CP Abdulmajid who distinguished about 30 years in service, is a highly motivated and purpose-driven law enforcement officer, known for his professionalism and dedication. He has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities across the country, including:

“His Conventional police duties in several state commands, notably Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Borno, and Lagos, Unit Commander, 36 PMF, Kebbi State, Assistant Commissioner, State CID, Nasarawa State, Area Commander, Hadejia, Jigawa State, Commander, 24 PMF, Presidential escort, Abuja, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Operations, Akwa Ibom State, Deputy Commissioner, ‘X’ Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna State”, the PRO said.

Prior to his current appointment, CP Naziru Abdulmajid served as the Commissioner of Police (Admin), ICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Professional courses attended by the new CP, according to the statement includes Junior Command Course, Police Staff College, Jos, intermediate Command Course, Police Staff College, Jos, Mobile Police Training, Gwoza

CP Abdulmajid pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents of the state. He is also committed to upholding professionalism, promoting community-friendly policing, and maintaining zero tolerance for corruption, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

The Command, therefore called on the good people of Borno State to extend their full cooperation to the new Commissioner of Police as he works to ensure peace, security, and public trust across the state.

CP Naziru Abdulmajid is happily married and blessed with children.
