Borno police marks maiden National Police week with Town Hall meeting

To mark, Police week and National Police Day, the Borno state police command has organized a Town Hall meeting with members of the community, police officers and men as well as other stakeholders on success and challenges of modern policing.
Speaking at the Town Hall meeting which held at the IbrahTaiwo Area Command, Maiduguri, on Tuesday, the Borno state commissioner of Police, CP. Yusuf Lawal Said” last year President Bola Tinubu recognized some police officers with national award, where he also approved that National Police week to hold every first week of April and the 7th Day as police day”
“This years maiden Police week is commencing today with Town Hall meeting and followed by Sanitation to pay back to society, street walk to showcase our fitness and on Friday medical outreach”, he Said
Cp Lawal, said ” this Town Hall meeting is part of the IGP Egbetokun vision of people centric policing. We are here to freely interact and discuss what police are doing and where we went wrong, so that we will build on our successes and correct what we have not been doing well”.
He said the Town Hall meeting was inline with the IGP’s vision of reducing crime to 50 percent in 2025 therefore urge you to support the police to achieve that, as we cannot do it alone, security is everybody’s business.
He directed all the Division Police officers in the state to have monthly engagements and Town Hall meetings with the members of the society in respective communities to ensure feedback from community for effective and people centric policing.
Earlier, the chairman, Borno state Police for Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Abatcha Umar commended the CP for the town hall meeting and the engagement for effective policing…
Represented by the PCRC Publicity Secretary, , Ismail Abdulkadir assured the police of the members of the society support to reduce crime to 50 percent.
Also, the chairperson, state PCRC, Mrs Kaltum Jafar Said women are crucial in ensuring peace and security in the society and commended the police for organizing the Town Hall meeting..
