Borno: police parades 2 suspects for peddling drugs, ilicit substances attempted to bribe DPO, 22 others

The Borno state Police command has paraded 2 suspects for drugs peddling, attempts to bribe Divisional Police Officer (DPO), 22 others for various offences which includes possesion of ilicit drugs and subtances , as well as dangerous weapons among others..
Parading the suspects at the Police headquarters, Maiduguri on Thursday,, the command’s , Police Public Relations Officer,, Nahum Daso said “”the command in its continuous strides of curbing urban crime and criminalities within and around Maiduguri municipal city have arrested 24 suspects involved in various crimes such as social vices, drug dealings and illicit substance abuse.”
ASP Daso further said ” on the 21st May, 2024 at about 1930hrs GRA Police Patrol Team while on a Stop and Search operation at Jiddari Junction old GRA Maiduguri, arrested one Bello Abubakar ‘m’ of 32yrs of Polo Kushari Area Maiduguri, on a Tricycle REG. NO: BBU 208 QA body NO: 716BG, conveying Tramadol Capsules BP 50mg concealed in two sacks which were recovered during stop and search”.
“On the 22nd May, 2024 at about 1000hrs, one Usman Ali ‘m’ 23yrs of Polo High Court Area and one Haruna Dzava ‘m’ 32yrs of Polo Kushari Area Maiduguri, came to GRA Police Station with the sum of N400,000.00 to bribe and free the said Bello Abubakar earlier arrested. The Divisional Police Officer rejected the money and arrested two suspects and transferred the two suspects to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation”, the police added.
The command said during a simultaneous stop & search and raids operation at various locations within the metropolitan city and succeeded arrested 22 suspects in possession of drugs, illicit substances and dangerous weapons;.
The PRO said items recovered during the raids includes 2 bottles of codine syrup, 1 container of solution, 5 Tramadol, 24 Wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 100 pieces of D5 tablets, 100 pieces of EXOL tablet, Four (4) knives and 1 sharp horn.
