CATHOLIC PRIEST KIDNAPPED IN ADAMAWA.

The Adamawa state Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a Catholic priest in charge of St.Rita’s Catholic church Bare town in Numan local government area in the state.
Spokesman of the Command, S.P Suleiman Nguroje in a mobile phone interview Wednesday in Yola stating that the police operatives have already been drafted curbing the area with a view to trailing the suspected abductors.
“The command has dispatched rescue team to the bushes and fringes of the area for his safe release”. Nguroje said
Nguroje explained that the police is doing all with in its power to ensure the priest is released unhurt and return safely to his loved ones noting that those behind the act will also be arrested for possible prosecution.
Earlier,in a press statement signed and issued by Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Rev Dr Stephen Dami Mamza indicated that the abductors struck at the residence of Rev.Father Oliver Buba in the wee hours of Tuesday and forcefully whisked him away to unknown destination.
According to the statement, the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday ,21st May 2024 around 01:00am in the Father’s rectory in St.Rita’s Catholic church,Bare in Numan local government area of the state.
The statement added that the Diocese has already committed the Priest to prayers to Almighty God for his safe and immediate release from his abductors.
However,the police spokesman, Nguroje advice the public to be wary of strange people around their communities and always report to security agencies any suspicious movements in their localities for prompt response.
