Child Protection Law:  BOSG holds 3-day workshop to journalists, community, religious leaders

The Borno state Government in collaboration with I Concept Dot Net, have hold three -day sensitization workshop to journalists, traditional, community and religious in the state on the implementations of the Child Protection Law (CPL) 2022.

The 3 day workshop which attracted over 30 journalists, community and religious leaders each was aimed at sensitizing the stakeholders in borno on Child Protection Law and its implementation strategies.

The workshop is to also equiped participants with essential knowledge and skills, the Borno State government hopes to strengthen child protection mechanisms throughout the state..

In his paper presentation at the workshop held at the Muhammadu Indimi Conference Center, University of Maiduguri yesterday, Prof. Muhammed Saleh of the Faculty of Law, University of Maiduguri, said the law was amended to suite the culture, traditional and the religion of the people of Borno.

He said the cardinal aim of the law is to protect the child and that the law was in line with the Islamic perspective on the age of child early marriage, custody of child as well as the adoption of child among other issues.

Equally, Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf also in his presentation called on the media houses especially the radio and television to dedicate more airtime and programmes on issues concerning children.

Dr Yusuf also called on the media houses to be mindful of time that are appropriate while fixing time for children programmes, as well as allowing children to feature the programmes by themselves so that they can effectively express themselves.

This workshop which attracted over 30 participants each from the media, community, religious and traditional leaders was aimed at  educating and sensitizing the stakeholders, including , on the Child Protection Law and its implementation strategies.
