With heavy hearts, the Board, Secretariat, and entire staff of the Resource Center for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) pay tribute to the late Comrade Ibrahim Garba Maryamโa fearless voice who advocated for democracy, human rights, and accountability. Comrade Maryam stood firmly in working to advance issues necessary for the advancement of equity and justice.
He was courageous in addressing societal issues that were often avoided and was a stalwart in pushing the government to act to ensure quality education, and gender and social inclusion. His legacy is marked by empowering communities to take charge of basic education and championing women’s rights while vehemently opposing child abuse.
Comrade I. G. Maryam’s tireless efforts in civic engagement were exemplified in his active participation in budget processes, monitoring, and evaluation, reflecting his commitment to a just and equitable society.
His media and CSO-friendly approach made him a well-known and dedicated force for positive change.
As we bid this committed Comrade farewell, we pray that Allah grants solace to his grieving family, colleagues, friends, mentees, associates, and the entire Civil Society family. May the soul of Comrade Ibrahim Garba Maryam find eternal rest. ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ง.
