We always need good and reliable leaders to help us and make the essential large scale decisions that help keeps us moving, we believe that leaders are not born, but made and are molded through experience, consistency, continued study and adaptation.

Buni is a grassroot and dogged politician who grew through the maze to become who he is today, the 4th democratically elected governor of yobe state. He may have fought and won some battles politically, including the epic battle for the soul of APC and Nigerians as a whole, in the 2015 general elections to dethrone a ruling government of PDP and enthrone a newly formidable party the All progressive congress (APC) and still remain a thorn in the flesh of the opposition till date.

Gov. Buni happens to be a grassroot mobilizer and astute manager of people for the past 35 years of active political service.

I once heard, he’s described as public servant by profession, A businessman by occupation also a politician by commitment and mission and an advocate of equality and good governance for all and sundry.

Today grassroot politics has become a major and popular yardstick for measuring the success or otherwise of elected political leaders, charity, the wise people say begins at home.

He became a progressive because he kept moving and excelling and growing and pioneering new frontiers, those around him gain energy from being part of a dynamic movement.

Buni is brave in his thinking and daring in action, that’s why he accomplishes anything he stand for and goal oriented.

His political journey through the maze of Yobe and Nigeria’s political atmosphere indicates that though he may have been or still the most charismatic and industrious servant and most reliable and trusted leader who carries everyone along, he may have rose rapidly through the ranks, but his political background speaks volume.

Gov. Buni is among those who ushered in the current political dispensation and was a pioneer yobe state chairman of the Action Congress (AC) and later the All Nigerians People Party (ANPP) who are both legacy of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) a political gladiator with voluminous records and unquestionable character at all times.

His excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni the executive Governor of Yobe state is one man who runs a government with the understanding and inputs of governed is, a political expression of the beauty of democracy, which he was sworn to defend and uphold at all times.

His frankness on issues is second to none, he says it as it is, to whoever it is, whatever time matters come to head, that’s why he is known to be a man with few words.

Buni have being a role model and example of selfless giving to his generation, yobeans and Nigeria at large. Yobeans are lucky to have such an inclusive leader, who carries everyone along, irrespective of tribe, religion, status or political affiliation and someone worthy of emulation.

As far as politics is concerned, there are many great and reputable leaders in this country, but Buni is a leader with high pedigree who we consider extremely impressive, unbeatable who possess unquestionable character with a reputation that precedes him.

It is not always easy to work with a “workaholic” leader whose main requirement is competence plus “doing the extra mile” but along the way, i learned two things about him, he doesn’t mince words and has a good and open heart that contains all….

Governance in Yobe state, under the determined leadership of Gov. Mai Mala Buni, is now tagged as ‘ promise made – promise kept” it hasn’t been a pleasurable ride since his assumption in office, it has been serious business, look at Yobe now! Besides the facts that Education, Health, Poverty eradication and employment have been the order of the day, life impacting development has touched all the nooks and crannies of the 17 local government areas of the state.

Right from his first day in office he has kept his eye on the ball, not once has he lost sight of his government,,that’s the more reason he declared state of emergency on education sector and revolutionize agricultural sector too, as yobe is known to be an agrarian state.

Buni’s style of transformation is one of a kind, he always goes for the best and competent contractors, road across yobe state is the talk of town now, farmers and commuters are commending his outstanding works since the creation of yobe, it gave the state a new face of hope that comes with dividend of democracy.

Healthcare sector got the best hand in Buni’s administration, he made sure he built 178 healthcare facilities in each ward across the 17 local govt area of the state and equipped them with modern facilities and medical experts to take care of it.

A modern and up to date dialysis centre that takes care of all for free and the world class maternal/mortality healthcare centre, if not the biggest across Africa, is put in place to Carter for women and children.

Empowerment programmes, under skills acquisition, sme, soft capitals are big time and very massive under the watch of Buni, youth occupied sensitive positions in his administration.

Yobe as an agrarian state, Governor Buni made sure he initiates modern and up to date mechadanized technology to make farming system easy for farmers, he distributed 100 tractors and subsidized fertiliser to farmers at affordable price, solar boreholes for irrigation farmers, seedlings of different varieties too.

He doesn’t keep your shoes clean, neither does he suffer his with such pleasure, he matches on, leading the change and never panting inspite of the movement energised pace, he match. No one dares to drag a tall man, believe you me, you’d be left behind. He matches.

Gov. Buni’s 2025 budget proposal of N320.8bn reflects N176.9 bn (55.1%) to capital expenditure and N144bn (44.9) to recurrent expenditure. Health, Education, infrastructure and Empowerment programmes are the top priority in the budget to foster sustainable growth, socio-economic boost, development accross the 17 local government of the state.

This piece is not just about politics, politics is like the hide of the sea, it swings to and fro, much like the thrust of a pendulum, as they say: wherever the commanding interest lies, i am talking about the serious business of governance in Yobe, under the command of a determined captain – Gov. Buni……

Gov. Buni will never accede to being unduly recognized across the globe not just Nigeria, but he prefer to work hard in silence and let his tremendous achievements make the round noise…

This constructed article will not attempt to rob him that distinguishing attribute, nevertheless, i strongly believe it would be a disservice to humanity if the noble and benevolent deeds of these silent achiever are allowed to remain unsung…

Mai Mala Buni is one man who attracts great people and knows how to hold them together with all sincerity and togetherness….And you can never predict him.

The Voice of truth might not be the loudest, but it’s the strongest.
