Comminique of The Northeast Governors’ Meeting in Taraba

The North East Governors’ Forum at end of its 12th meeting in Jalingo, Taraba state, noted with satisfaction the appreciable success recorded against insurgency in the sub-region and called for sustenance of the onslaught.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the meeting which was read by the Yobe state Governor, His Excellency, Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN.
The Forum noted with concern the effects of climate change and the impending flood in the subregion and called for relocation of communities in flood plain areas to safer locations.
The Forum also called on relevant agencies including the North East Development Commission to reconstruct the roads and bridges destroyed by floods in the region.
Similarly, the Governors decried the high cost of farm inputs this cropping season and called for supply of more inputs to subsidize irrigation farming.
The Governors agreed to rejuvenate the North East trade fair, to commence in in Maiduguri in December 2025.
The Forum also considered having a masterplan on solar energy to provide power in the states.
The Governors congratulated University of Maiduguri on its 50th anniversary and pledged to support the institution.
