Dr hong Said, the emergence of H. E. Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri CON, as the Governor of Adamawa State was the turning point in the quest for the independence of the Huba Chiefdom.

He continue to say that “With a track record of fairness, justice, equity, transparency, courage, inclusiveness and as one who listens to the wishes and aspirations of people, it was not surprising that His Excellency created the Huba Chiefdom along with 6 other Emirates and Chiefdoms across the State in December 2024 In taking that action His Excellency brought to an end a struggle that lasted for about one hundred and twenty years.

On 3rd January 2025, His Excellency also approved the appointment of Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako as Tol Huba. Unlike previous approvals, His Excellency put in place the legal frameworks, administrative and good governance procedures and structure of the Chiefdom

Today 11 of February 2025, Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako is being presented with the staff of Office as the Tol Huba, by Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Speaking about the struggle for the Chiefdom, Dr. Idi Hong said the three independent chiefdoms in Adamawa Province were initially answerable to only the British. Impressed by the governance structure, the first Resident of Yola Province Mr. G. N. Barclay recommended the Chief of Kilba in 1902 for First Class status.

He said, the Assistant Chief High Commissioner’s Office in Zungeru on 27th March 1906 approved Second Class Staff of Office for Chief of Kilba and Chief of Bachama. However, while that of Bachama was granted that of Huba was not implemented.

Again on 14th August 1986, Governor of Gongola State, Col Yohanna Madaki approved the upgrading of Kilba Chiefdom to Second Class status as per previous colonial records. This was followed by yet another approval of Second Class status by Governor of Gongola State, Group Captain Jonah D. Jang on 1 July 1988.

All these approvals for Huba Chiefdom were not implemented. On the contrary, the leaders who spearhead the struggle for independence of the Huba Chiefdom were harassed and intimidated while others were in fact punished.
