DG NYSC Hails Corps Members As Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course Ends In Yobe

The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier-General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed Ahmed has commended corps members posted to Yobe State for exhibiting a high level of discipline and actively participating in the camp activities.
The NYSC DG, made the disclosure at the State NYSC permanent orientation camp, Dazigau, during the closing ceremony for the 2023 batch ‘C’ stream 2 Orientation Course.
The DG, represented by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Hafsat Yerima, urge the corps members to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience, installed on them during their Orientation Course, which according to him are geared towards making them strive to meet the expectations of Nigerians by contributing their quarter towards the progress and development of the country.
While reminding them of their primary responsibilities, the DG enjoined the corps members to perform their duties diligently and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws as well as workplace rules and regulations.
He called on all the corps members to undertake personal and group Community Development Service Projects that will help to uplift the living standards of the host communities.
While appreciating the efforts of all the corps members, Mrs Yerima said the NYSC Boss had received impressive reports on their positive active participation in the entrepreneurial trainings conducted in the Camp, under the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He encourage all the corps members to build on the skills acquired by availing themselves of opportunities for post-camp trainings, as this will go a long way in empowering them for self-reliance.
He maintained that the NYSC will continue to liaise with financial institutions and other stakeholders with a view to providing start-up loans to enable them actualize their business dreams.
Brig. Gen. Ahmed, called on all the Corps Members, to be security conscious at all times, as security is every one’s business, avoid acts that can endanger their lives such as staying out late, attending night parties, visitation of dangerous places, and acceptance of car ride and gifts from strangers.
“Accordingly, we are in constant liaison with security agencies and other critical stakeholders with a view to ensuring your safety as well as addressing other essential needs for a fulfilling service year”.
The NYSC Boss urged them to avoid using the social media for ethnic jingoism, rumour peddling and the promotion of hatred. Instead,
“your activities online should be targeted at self-improvement as well as promotion of the unity, peace and development of our dear country.”

He concluded by advising the corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC as well as their families and institutions of graduation.
