Empowerment : Adamawa govt. expends  N4.4 on skills acquisition trainings.

In an effort to kick out poverty and unemployment,the Adamawa state government has expended worth N4.4 Billion on various skills acquisition trainings for the youths in the state.

Coordinator of the state Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation, PAWECA. Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello made the disclosure at a press conference reviewing the activities of the Agency since inception in 2020 and its prospects  for the year 2024.

Hajiya Bello applauded the attention given to the Agency by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri stressing that, that singular gesture informed the laudable successes recorded in the various skills acquisition programmes lined up to ensure self reliance by the beneficiaries across the 21 local government areas in the state.

Bello announced that over 20,000 youths have accessed various skills acquisition and empowerment programmes floated by the Agency since the period under review (2019 to 2023) noting that N30 Million monthly has been expended on the projects and programs for the beneficiaries.

She explained that among the support and intervention given to the people included ; training of starters,technical support to business owners and entrepreneurs as well as allocating social welfare packages to those in dire situations.

According to her part of the scheme, the beneficiaries under going the various trainings receives social support ranging from N10,000 to N50,000 which she said shouldn’t be misconstrued as SA allowances.

She stated that from 2019 to 2023, a total of 23,000 have been trained under the Agency’s social support services programmes while another set of 2,700 youths were trained on various skills acquisition schemes through the nine (9) zonal training centres in the state with a view to reducing unemployment rate among the young generation.

She also stated that, Agency has  developed it’s portal on the internet where all information and activities about the unit can be accessed including ; data,figures,admission and registration processes.

The Coordinator maintained that,7,565 small scale entrepreneur s have accessed some micro finance supports through the newly introduced “Fintiri business Wallet” window which was launched on the 14th March 2023.

While pledging that the Agency will redouble its efforts in serving humanity, Bello confirmed that 105  people living with disabilities,PLWD disabilities,PLWDs have been captured across the 21 local government councils  to partake in 2024 programs respectively.

She also announced that the Agency would be considering an  entrepreneurship development scheme for potential retirees with a view to keeping them  busy or engaged even after retirement.
