FCE Yola to host 2024 NICEGA Games, honors Ribadu, Joda, Gidado eight others @ 50th anniversary

The management of Federal College of Education Yola has concluded plans to host this year’s (2024) Nigerian colleges of Education Games Association (NICEGA) in Adamawa state.
Provost of the college,Professor Muhammad Usman Degereji disclosed the development at a press conference in Yola stressing that over twenty (20) colleges have indicated interests to participate as bonafide members of the Association.
Degereji explained that the participating colleges would take part in different sporting activities with the aim of enhancing unity,physical and psychological fitness to face their studies respectively.
He noted that the college is holding a tripartite events including 15th convocation ceremony,50th anniversary celebration of the college and the NICEGA games which commences on the 1st November.2024 adding that 11 personalities will be honored for their meritorious services to the mother land.
According to him, the events will boost students welfare, academic excellence and enhance community service listening the names of personalities to be given posthumous awards includes; late Ahmed Joda, Late Ahmadu Ribadu,first Nigerian defense minister,late professor Gidado Tahir,late Musa Waziri and late Alhaji Iya Abbas.
Others to be honored are;Professor Jibril Aminu,professor Peter Lassa,Professor Samuel Alaideno,Madam Asia Mamman,Maikano Tafida and the Deputy Governor,Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
The provost announced that,a budget estimate of N163 million have been earmarked for the 15th combined convocation ceremony which will cover the period between 2011 to 2023 beginning on Saturday
Degereji assured that adequate modalities have been put in place to ensure the success of NICEGA games which will come to an end on November 9th, 2024 maintaining that, the school sporting arena has been rejuvenated to ensure the success of the event which will kick off on Friday 1st Nov, 2024.
He also added that a book launch in honour of Professor Gidado Tahir, the pioneer provost of the college as well as display of the college archives to showcase its deep roots and history.
