FG to collaborate with state governments on Education Reforms – Prof. Tahir

The federal government is seeking collaboration with the state govts  with a view to implementing education reforms in the country.

Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman disclosed the development in Yola yesterday (Thursday) stressing that the new reforms are meant to addressing the failing standards of educational sector.

while paying courtesy call on the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state, Professor Mamman announced that the federal government will soon unfold some reforms programmes especially at the basic education level.

Mamman said President Bola Tinubu has directed that the issue of out-of-school children should be given priority to address what he described as “national scourge in order improve quality of education”.

He assured that under his watch as the sheriff in the Ministry all hands are on deck to changing the narrative as he asked for collaboration of the state governments in that regard.

The Minister also revealed that the Federal government is working on workable strategies to checkmating unnecessary going on strike by the tertionary institutions.

Earlier in his address, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri extended his appreciation to President Tinubu for the appointment of the state’s illustrious son as the Minister of Education.

Governor Fintiri applauded Professor  Mamman on the timely reforms he initiated in the education sector assuring him support of the state.

Fintiri lauded the policies and programmes initiated by the Minister which he noted showed his unique capacity of doing what his predecessors failed to do in the previous administrations.

He also lauded the minister on removal of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) from Integrated Payrol and Personnel Information System IPPIS and payment of witheld salary arrears of lecturers.

Governor  Fintiri told the minister that his administration has drastically addressed the menace of out-of-school children and Almajiri syndrome calling on him to bring more policies for development in the state and country at large.

The minister also paid similar courtesy call on the lamido Adamawa,HRH Barkido Aliyu Mustapha at his palace but was received by Alhaji Mustapha Aminu,Galadima Adamawa and some members of the emirate council.
