Fire engulfs Dakata scrap market in Kano

A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday at the scrap market in Dakata, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, destroying several properties and causing significant losses.
The market, popularly known as Kwalema, is located along Zango Road, close to Dominion and Mobil filling stations, and near the office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire raged for over five hours before emergency responders could contain it.
The inferno resulted in extensive damage to shops and goods worth millions of naira.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said firefighters were working tirelessly to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
He added that investigations into the cause of the fire had commenced, but the exact reason behind the outbreak was yet to be determined.
Authorities are urging residents and traders to remain cautious and follow fire safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
